About
Dr. O’dell Owens Center for Learning offers a supportive, individualized educational environment for students in grades K-12 with complex emotional and behavioral needs. The school provides a full continuum of care, including comprehensive mental health supports, and is staffed by professionals trained in restorative practices and trauma-informed care.
Recognizing the impact of trauma on children, the Center fosters opportunities for healing and recovery through a person-centered, strengths-based approach. Instruction is guided by each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), ensuring that support is tailored to their unique needs. Class sizes are intentionally small, typically no more than 10 students, allowing for close attention and personalized instruction.
The Center utilizes innovative, culturally responsive teaching strategies to create a safe and inclusive setting that prepares students for life beyond graduation. Admission to the Dr. O’dell Owens Center for Learning requires a referral from Cincinnati Public Schools’ Department of Student Services and an active IEP.
